George A. Bermann is the Jean Monnet Professor of European Union Law as well as the Walter Gellhorn Professor of Law at Columbia Law School, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1975. His international arbitration activities include Chief Reporter, ALI Restatement of Law of International Commercial Arbitration; Director, American Arbitration Association; and International Arbitrator and expert witness in international arbitrations

Robert H. Smit is a Partner at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in New York where he Co-Chairs the Firm's International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Practice.
